2019 Honda CR-V Trim Levels
The 2019 model year presents yet another entry of the Honda CR-V, which reigns supreme in the compact crossover SUV market due to its all-round quality. With the CR-V, you can expect spaciousness, top-notch ride quality, first-rate fuel efficiency, and exceptional projected reliability. Now in its fifth generation of production, with virtually no changes from the previous model year, the CR-V in its 2019 iteration is split into four trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring.
Honda CR-V LX
The LX is the base-level trim of the 2019 Honda CR-V. Under its hood is a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which outputs 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. It is hooked up to a continuously variable transmission for a smooth and fuel-efficient ride due to the absence of the energy-consuming gear-shifting mechanism found on traditional transmissions. Front-wheel drive is standard, with the option of upgrading to an all-wheel drivetrain if you want to optimize performance on slippery surfaces. To the front-wheel-drive system's credit, though, fuel efficiency is estimated at 26/32 mpg, which better than the all-wheel drive's 25/31 mpg. The CR-V is designed as a five-seater, with two cloth-covered rows of seats that include a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat.
The LX is notable for providing the largest passenger volume of the four trims: at 105.9 cubic feet. Standard cargo volume-measured between the rear seats and liftgate-is 39.2 cubic feet. However, you can fold down the rear seats to maximize cargo volume at 75.8 cubic feet. The cabin is enhanced by Active Noise Cancellation technology to reduce road noise. Other standard comfort and convenience features include cruise control, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth wireless connectivity for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, four-speaker audio, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack for playing media from mobile devices, and a 5-inch color LCD screen. Safety and security is provided by features such as a six-airbag system, a multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines, an anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability assist with traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, LED daytime running lamps, and hill start assist.
Honda CR-V EX
A step-up from the LX is the EX, which replaces the 2.4-liter I4 with a leaner yet more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged I4; it provides 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. In addition, fuel economy is slightly improved-to 28/34 mpg with the front-wheel drivetrain and 27/33 mpg with the all-wheel drivetrain-due to the smaller workhorse. However, passenger volume shrinks to 102.9 cubic feet. At the EX trim level, the front seats are heated, with the driver's seat elevated to 12-way power adjustability with 4-way power lumbar support. Regarding comfort and convenience, the CR-V at this trim level is enhanced with dual-zone automatic climate control (to provide separate HVAC adjustments for both driver and front passenger), a driver information interface, a smart entry system (which upgrades remote entry by eliminating the need to press the key fob for vehicle access), push-button and remote engine start, hands-free text messaging ability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration, a second (and faster media-playing) USB port in the front, two charging-only USB ports added in the back, two additional speakers to provide a six-speaker audio system, HondaLink remote connectivity, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, and a 7-inch color touchscreen that replaces the comparatively smaller 5-inch.
For safety, the EX gets the addition of engine immobilization to beef up the vehicle's remote keyless entry-based theft-deterrent mechanism, Honda LaneWatch for expanding your side horizons, and dynamic guidelines for the rearview camera to enable a choice between three angles (i.e., normal, top-down, and wide) so that you can get a better rearview. Debuting on the EX is the Honda Sensing driver-assistance suite. It consists of forward collision warning to alert you of a possible collision with the vehicle ahead of you, lane departure warning to alert you when drifting out of your lane, collision mitigation braking to apply brake pressure when an unavoidable collision is determined, road departure mitigation to adjust steering and braking if you cross detected lanes without signaling, lane keeping assist to adjust your car's steering to help you keep centered in a detected lane, adaptive cruise control to adjust your speed to maintain a safe distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you, blind spot monitoring for alerting you to vehicles driving in the lane to either side, a rear cross-traffic monitor to detect vehicles on either side crossing the path behind you, and auto high-beam headlights for better visibility when needed.
Honda CR-V EX-L
One of the upper-level trim levels, the EX-L denotes a luxury-oriented 2019 Honda CR-V model. At the level, cloth seat trim gives way to leather upholstery, a 2-position memory system is added on the driver's seat, and 4-way power adjustability appears on the front passenger seat. Also, you will get eight speakers, instead of four or six. You can automatically control home features-such as garage doors and security systems-from your crossover SUV. And the rearview mirror has auto-dimming ability, which means that distracting headlight glare from vehicles following you will be snuffed out.
Honda CR-V Touring
Although the Touring provides the least amount of passenger space, at 101.6 cubic feet, it is the 2019 Honda CR-V's top-level trim for a reason. It is the only model that comes with HD Radio technology, a 9-speaker 330-watt audio system, and a voice-activated satellite-linked navigation system.
