Technology - 2020 Honda CR-V
This is one area where the RAV4 does stay relatively close to the CR-V in features, but once again it falls just a little bit short here. The CR-V's 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multiple options for satellite and HD radio, and standard USB port and Bluetooth make it preferable to the RAV4's relatively scarce list of interior tech features. When you add the technology spread to the more comfortable seating of the CR-V, you easily see why it trumps the RAV4 very easily here. If you have to open up the doors of either vehicle and get into it for the next decade or two, we'd highly recommend choosing the doors of the CR-V.

The first rule of a family SUV is that the interior has to be roomy and comfortable. Both the RAV4 and CR-V get that part right, but only the CR-V gives you options for power front seats for both driver and passenger and full leather-trimmed seating. The RAV4 stops at synthetic leather options, and that will also cost you more money. Both are similarly priced, but given that the 2020 RAV4 is more expensive, we're very disappointed that Toyota couldn't knock the price down a few pegs. The CR-V wins on price as well, even while offering a cozier interior.

Families live busy lives everyday. That's why it's so very important to make sure that you have plenty of cargo capacity in the SUV you choose. You're buying an SUV partially because of that additional cargo capacity. Don't pick the wrong one in this case. With 39.2 cubic feet of cargo capacity with all seats up, and a large 75.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the rear seats down, the CR-V gives you significantly more cargo capacity than the RAV4. The RAV's 69.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity with seats folded down is wholly disappointing for the brand. It kept the RAV4 lighter, but then it makes it less useful as well. We appreciate Honda caring about its customers enough to make sure that you never have to cram your cargo in however you can. With the CR-V, you can confidently pack for every trip and not have to worry about damaging anything. There's plenty of space.
