Honda has reintroduced the Passport for the 2019 model year as a mid-size crossover SUV. This all-new vehicle is available at your local Honda dealer serving Iowa City and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting time if you're shopping crossovers and a fan of the Honda brand. There really is a lot to like here, including a spacious interior, ample passenger seating, enhanced off-road capabilities and a cargo area that is maximized thanks to cleverly placed storage compartments. Honda has released this first third-gen Passport in four trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring and Elite. Consumers considering the 2019 Honda Passport near Iowa City will need to determine which trim is the best fit for them, so we'll give you a breakdown of the four and aim to emphasize which features set each one apart.
Honda Passport Sport
Front-wheel drive is the standard configuration for the Sport-as well as the EX-L and Touring-available at your local dealer serving Iowa City, but all-wheel drive is an option even at this base level. Every 2019 Honda Passport near Iowa City regardless of the trim level has the same 3.5L V6. This engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, and that combination generates 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque regardless of whether you opt for FWD or AWD. Although the Sport may be the base trim, it doesn't feel much like a base trim. Notable features include 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels with a split-spoke design that can be upgraded to a chrome finish. You also get remote and push-button start, automatic climate control with three distinct zones and LED headlamps. The Sport comes with a 5-inch touchscreen for its infotainment setup. It supports Bluetooth and is connected to an audio system with seven speakers. This base model also does very well on the driver assistance front. Notables include adaptive cruise control, a forward collision warning system and a lane keeping assist system.
Honda Passport EX-L
The 2019 Honda Passport EX-L is the mid-level trim, and it may be the most popular due to that balance it strikes between feature set and price. It builds on the Sport and includes all of the features mentioned earlier. Concerning driver aids, the EX-L adds a blind-spot monitoring system to Honda Sensing. The infotainment system is upgrade considerably with an 8-inch touchscreen. You also get smartphone support via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio and some additional USB connections. The upholstery is upgraded to leather throughout, and the front seats are not only power-adjustable but heated. Sound good? Well, Honda isn't finished yet. They also upgrade the liftgate to a power liftgate and add a sunroof. There are also a number of Urban and Adventure option packages from which you can choose to add accessories like running boards, underbody spoilers, fender flares and much more!
Honda Passport Touring
With the Touring edition of the 2019 Honda Passport near Iowa City, Honda basically takes the EX-L and strives to make it more comfortable and a more versatile experience. The seat heating is extended to the second row so that your passengers can be as comfortable as you are. The audio system is upgraded to a more premium sound system that boasts 10 speakers rather than just five. The infotainment system gets an integrated satellite-linked navigation system as well as a 115-volt power outlet. Additional safety features include parking sensors for the front and rear, and Honda upgrades the power liftgate to a hands-free model. The wheels are also a bit different at this trim level. Five-spoke pewter gray alloy is the default, which are quite nicer, or you can step to an even nicer machine finish.
Honda Passport Elite
The 2019 Honda Passport Elite is the only trim that comes all-wheel drive standard. In fact, it isn't even available as front-wheel drive, and the entire package is centered on that AWD experience. This is the top-of-the-line Passport and all of the features mentioned above are included. There are also a number of items that are optional on the other trims but included here standard. The front seats here are not just power-adjustable and heated but also ventilated. The steering wheel is heated as well. Honda has added interior LED lighting for a better cabin experience. The side mirrors are upgraded to auto-dimming versions, and tech junkies will love that Honda has added a wireless charging pad for your smartphone. The Elite has the same wheels and options as the Touring, and there are also the Adventure and Urban packages available for the added style elements.
